Navigating the Vaudeville Theatre Seating Plan

Thanks to the numerous renovations, the Vaudeville Theatre's seating capacity came down from more than 1000 to 679. These seats are spread across three sections: stalls, dress circle and upper circle. Given the limited seating and simplistic theatre layout, there aren't that many surprises when it comes to the seating plan. Let's look at each of these three sections in detail to help you understand the layout better and help you find great seats for Emilia.

Vaudeville Theatre Stalls

The stalls is the biggest seating section in the theatre, housing a total of 335 seats. The section features a giant block of seats without any aisle to separate them. Due to the design of the theatre, the first two rows are much shorter than the remaining ones. Rows N to P are also shorter than other rows. The overhang for the dress circle section begins at row J but the sight lines are affected only from row N, where the view is cut off from the top of the stage. Due to the natural rake in this section, even seats in the rear rows of the stalls offer an unobstructed view of the stage. You can expect decent legroom in this section, though if you need extra legroom, opt for seats at the end of the rows.

There are 20 rows in total in the stalls section, labelled from AY to S. The seats are numbered in the range of 1 to 18 moving left to right.

Vaudeville Theatre Dress Circle

Housing a total of 188 seats, the dress circle is the first of two elevated levels in the theatre. This section is structured similarly to the stalls with a big block of seats without any central aisle. Given the structure of the theatre, the rows don't curve, allowing patrons a direct view of the stage. The small size of the theatre also ensures that the dress circle section doesn't feel too far from the stage. You can expect a clear, unobstructed view of the stage thanks to the decent rake. There are support pillars located at the ends of row F which can partially obstruct the view offered in seats in rows F to K.

The seats in the dress circle are spread across 10 rows labelled from A to K. These seats are numbered in the range of 1 to 19, moving left to right.There are 20 rows in total in the stalls section, labelled from AY to S. The seats are numbered in the range of 1 to 18 moving left to right.

Vaudeville Theatre Upper Circle

The last seating section in the Vaudeville Theatre is the upper circle. Like the other two sections, the dress circle also features a rectangular layout, offering guests a direct unobstructed view of the stage. While the section is pretty cramped, the seats here are pretty cheap and the view offered, decent. This section also features a good rake, allowing patrons in the rear rows to get an unobstructed view of the stage, no matter who sits in front. There are some technical equipment placed in the rear rows which can restrict the view, although the lack of an overhang makes for better viewing angles.

The upper circle has 156 seats that are seated across 9 rows, labelled A to J. These seats are numbered in the range of 1 to 18, moving left to right.

Which Seats Offer The Best View?

A great West End experience depends on a lot of factors, but the biggest contributor is definitely where you're seated. If you end up picking a seat that's too far off in a corner or offers a restricted view of the stage, you probably won't have a great time watching the show.
