Risi e Bisi

It is a simple symbolic meal made of rice, peas, pancetta, onion, butter, parsley and pea-shell broth. Venice in June - what to eat
Risotto al Nero di Seppia / Squid Ink Risotto

This is a seafood-based risotto. The squid ink in this dish gives a seemingly unpalatable jet-black colour to the rice. However this flavourful dish of squid, wine, onion, tomato and ink braise is a favourite among most Venetians. You can sample this dish at Osteria Al Portego.

Venice in June - what to eat
Buranelli

Buranelli is a tasty Venetian biscuit named after the Venetian island of Burano. Popular among seamen, these were originally packed along for long sea voyages. The original round shape has been replaced by the “S” shape to make them easier to dunk in coffee or mulled wine. For an authentic taste you can visit Tonolo, one of the best patisseries in Venice.

Tips for Visiting Venice in June
