Rolling Onto Broadway: ‘Tina – The Tina Turner Musical’

Move over, Cher and Carole King. Tina Turner is headed to Broadway. Tina — The Tina Turner Musical, currently turning heads at the West End in London, is set to premiere at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre this October, ahead of a November 7 opening. Tickets will go on sale in June.

Tony and Olivier Award nominee Adrienne Warren will reprise her portrayal of the famed singer for the Broadway stage, with further casting to be announced soon. The West End production will continue through December, while a production opened in Hamburg, Germany, this past March. 

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd and written by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins, Tina follows the tumultuous and legendary life of Tina Turner from her beginnings in Tennessee to global acclaim, with a strong message of solidarity and strength against sexism and racial prejudice. The cast album from the West End production can be streamed online, in addition to a special accompanying music video featuring Warren.
