Walter Kerr Theatre Orchestra

The Walter Kerr Theater orchestra section is divided into three sections with a total seat count of 543. As you would expect, the orchestra is the biggest seating section in the theatre by a huge margin, with 17 rows in total, labeled A to S. The orchestra section also houses the box seats. There are two sets of 8 box seats on either side of the theatre.

The three subsections all hold a different number of seats. The left orchestra subsection seats are odd numbered, in the range of 1 to 21. Next is the center orchestra subsection with consecutively numbered seats in the range of 101 to 118. Finally, the right orchestra with even numbered seats in the range of 2 to 22 makes up the other end.

Walter Kerr Theatre Mezzanine

The first of the two elevated sections in the theatre, the mezzanine houses 322 seats that are spread across 8 rows. The rows are labelled alphabetically, starting with A and ending with H. The mezzanine follows a similar structure as the orchestra with the seats divided into three subsections.

Seats in the left mezzanine section are odd numbered and fall in the range of 1 to 25. The right mezzanine seats are numbered between 2 to 22 and are all even. In the middle, the center mezzanine are consequently numbered and fall in the range of 101-114.

Walter Kerr Theatre Balcony

Located on the second level of the theatre, the balcony is the smallest section by far. Housing just 66 seats, this section has only two rows A and B. Divided into two sections, the balcony is not a section you should consider opting for, but if no other tickets are available, the middle seats in row A are decent. The left balcony has odd numbered seats in the range of 1 to 41 while the right balcony has even numbered seats in the range of 2 to 42.

Which Seats Offer the Best View?

Watching a Broadway show is a special experience and where you sit plays a very important role in the quality of your overall experience. The Walter Kerr Theatre is one of the smaller Broadway theatres and that means that most seats offer a pretty decent view of the stage. Still, there are some seats markedly better than the others and we have put them together for you.

The front couple of seats in the orchestra section, specifically those in rows B to E, are generally considered the best in the house. The main reason for this is that these seats strike the perfect balance since they are not too close to the stage and aren’t too far back either. If you prefer a seat with some elevation, the middle seats in rows A and B of the mezzanine section are great options.

Which Seats/Section Offer the Best Value for Money?

On an average, ticket prices for the best seats in a moderately popular show go upwards of $100. That is a big price to pay per ticket, especially if you're a tourist in the city and have other expenses to worry about. If you're reluctant to pay a huge amount for your Broadway experience, we have the next best thing for you; value for money seats.

Seats in the middle orchestra rows G-L are quite good and cost a lot less than the premium orchestra seats. Rows C to E in the mezzanine section also offer value for money seats, mostly because of the fine view on offer and price that is charged for them. In the balcony section, the middle seats in the first row A is pretty reasonably priced. While seats in the balcony section should be your last resort, you can still opt for the front row seats since they are amongst the cheapest in the theatre and offer relatively average views of the stage.

How Far in Advance Should You Book Hadestown Tickets?

The much anticipated show is making its long awaited Broadway debut at the Walter Kerr Theatre and you can bet the show will run with a packed house upon premiering. Given the audience expectations with the show and its cast, we would suggest you book your tickets at least three weeks or a month in advance.
