The Story
Hamilton is the story of one of Founding Fathers of America. The musical traces Alexander Hamilton’s his life from his birth in a Caribbean island to his rise as George Washington’s right-hand man and Treasury Secretary, his life as a rebel and a war-hero, and as a loving husband embroiled in the nation’s first sex scandal. This hip-hop musical is well-known for its talented cast, engaging performances, and excellent storytelling.

Performance
Hamilton opened on August 6 2015 at the Richard Rodgers theatre and received rave reviews. It has sold 1,384,229 tickets since its premiere (including Standing Room tickets) - 101% of total seating capacity - grossing a total of $300,539,932 up until 31 December 2017.
Awards
The play was nominated for 16 Tonys, and won 11 of them, including Best Musical. It was also nominated for 14 Drama Desk Awards, of which it won 8, including Outstanding Director of a Musical. It also was nominated for 5 Outer Critics Circle Awards and won 3, including Outstanding New Score. Hamilton also won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

About Richard Rodgers Theatre
Opened in 1924 as the 46th Street Theatre, the Richard Rodgers Theatre was renamed in 1990 to honor the legendary composer. The theatre was refurbished in 2006 and is now home to the Richard Rodgers’ Gallery, which has historic memorabilia from its namesake’s legendary career.
