Talk about a master of Broadway and pop! Eden Espinosa, perhaps one of the most remembered Elphabas in Wicked on Broadway and the originator of the role in San Francisco and Los Angeles, has been keeping busy. Espinosa just released a new album, Revelation, and is about to hit the road playing Trina in the upcoming national tour of Falsettos.
The album, comprised of ten songs of which Espinosa penned eight, marks the journey into the contemporary music scene, acting as a departure from Espinosa’s Broadway fame. Espinosa’s debut album, Look Around, was a compilation of adapted Broadway tunes, including “I’m Not That Girl” from Wicked.
Revelation is Espinosa’s first foray into songwriting and includes visceral imagery and melodies. The album was released on January 14 and is available on streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes.
The national tour of Falsettos (revived on Broadway last year) also stars Nick Adams (La Cage aux Folles) as Whizzer and Tony-nominee Max von Essen (An American in Paris) as Marvin. The tour will start at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on February 8, and will travel to Dallas, Texas, St. Paul, Minnesota, Sacramento, California, and more.
