Formerly known as the Royale Theatre, before being renamed after the Shubert Organisation’s longtime president, the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre is a popular Broadway house. The theatre is located at 242 West 45th Street and opened in 1927 with a musical, Piggy. This midsized theatre was designed by Herbert J. Krapp in a contemporary Spanish style. The interior features a cross-vaulted ceiling that is supported on each side by arches that are decorated with two pai. The theatre has a seating capacity of 1101, making it a medium-sized theatre. The Ferryman - Playing At The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre
Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman, after a sold-out engagement at London’s Royal Court and an equally successful West End run, is making its big Broadway debut. The thrilling and heartfelt drama is set in Northern Ireland in the early '80s and boasts powerful performances and stylistic direction. The production is scheduled to begin previews from October 2 for an October 21 opening night at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Since the source material is so critically acclaimed, you can bet that the Broadway production will be equally, if not more, riveting! The political and riveting play is being helmed by Academy and Tony Award winner, Sam Mendes. The Ferryman features sets and costumes by Rob Howell, sound design and music by Nick Powell and lighting design by Peter Mumford.
Leading the cast is Fionnula Flanagan as Aunt Maggie Far Away, Genevieve O'Reilly as Mary Carney, Laura Donnelly as Caitlin Carney, and Paddy Considine as Quinn Carney.
The Story
The story begins in 1981 Ireland where the Carney farmhouse is involved in a flurry of activities with preparations for the annual harvest keeping everyone on their toes. But when an unexpected visitor arrives, the usual celebrations turn into something entirely else. The Ferryman is set during The Troubles and tells the thrilling and emotional story of the family of a former IRA activist, who lives in their farmhouse in rural County Armagh.

Orchestra: Seating in the orchestra section is accessible to all parts without steps. Note that there are no steps to the designated wheelchair seating location.
Mezzanine: The mezzanine section is located on the second level, up 3 short flights of stairs (29 steps). Once on the mezzanine level there are approximately 2 steps up/down per row.

Handy Tips
- Latecomers are seated at suitable breaks in the performance in conveniently reachable seat locations at the discretion of management. Please arrive at the location at least 30 minutes before your show timing to avoid missing the show.
- While there’s no required dress code, clothing should be comfortable and appropriate.
- The theatre is fully air conditioned and it can get pretty chilly inside. Dress appropriately and bring a pullover or jacket just in case.
- The Ferryman is three hours and fifteen minutes long and there’s one intermission so that you can visit the restroom or the lounge.
- Please note that the use of cameras, recording devices, cell phones, beepers, and other electronic devices during the performance is prohibited.
