Margot Seibert’s debut solo album, ’77th Street.’

Yellow Sound Label has announced the release of 77th Street, the compelling and heartfelt debut solo album from Margo Seibert (Broadway’s In Transit and Rocky) on Friday, October 26. She will celebrate the album with a special concert at Joe’s Pub on Monday, October 22 at 9:30 p.m.

The actor, vocalist and songwriter has been described as “a superior singer” by The Wall Street Journal, “wide-eyed and soulful” by the New York Daily News, “golden-voiced” by The Huffington Post, and delivered a performance of “heartbreaking honesty” in In Transit as described by Broadway Blog critic Matthew Wexler. Customers that pre-order the album will receive an immediate download of the album’s title song.

Produced by Michael Croiter, 77th Street features Ms. Seibert’s inspired original songs that incorporate eclectic rock and folk influences and reimagined theater and pop classics, both delivered with her nuanced vocal performances that have captivated critics and audiences. The band for both the album and Joe’s Pub is led by Musical Director Tedd Firth on piano and B3 organ, with Sasha Brown on electric and acoustic guitar, Michael Croiter on drums, and Alan Stevens Hewitt on bass. Special musical guests for Joe’s Pub will be announced at a later date.

In addition, Ms. Seibert will co-star in the new Off-Broadway play The Thanksgiving Play at Playwrights Horizons — directed by Tony Award nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to GodPresent Laughter) — which begins performances October 12.

77th Street is an homage to the in-betweens of life,” says Ms. Seibert. “Employment is fleeting for an artist. We spend months, even years searching for the next right fit. It was during one of these periods that I began to pay attention to the melodies and lyrics I had been squirreling away for years.”

“I’m an actress, but I never entertained the idea that I could be a writer. Imposter syndrome loomed large. My friend Michael Croiter urged me to continue creating music. I wrestled to embrace all parts of me — artist, imposter, writer, singer without formal training, woman resistant to surrender, tenacious self-improver, fiercely loyal lover of 70s, 80s, and 90s music — and invited them out to play,” recalls Ms. Seibert. “I then took these elements and the location where inspiration hit, my first apartment on East 77th Street, and set out to explore this unappreciated time in our lives between now and the next thing. The times when the stories of our lives are written. This album is a collection of songs that express the exhilaration of knowing anything is possible, the frustration of being stuck, the heartache of letting someone go, and all the rest of the beautiful in-betweens.”

Ms. Seibert originated the leading roles of Adrian in the Broadway production of Rocky (Drama League Award Nomination), and of Jane in the Broadway musical, In Transit. Off-Broadway credits include Tamar of the River (2014 Drama Desk Award nomination, “Outstanding Actress in a Musical”), and The Undeniable Sound of Right Now. Her select regional credits include A Doll’s House, Part IIEver AfterThe Last Five Years; and Candide. Television credits include “Instinct,” “The Good Cop,”  “Elementary,” and “Boardwalk Empire.”
