Don’t Miss: DRAGS Benefit for Ali Forney Center

The Ali Forney Center (AFC), the country’s largest LGBTQ teen and young adult homeless shelter and drop-in center, will present its second annual DRAGS fundraiser event at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Marquee in Manhattan with performances from many of New York’s best drag artists, including RuPaul’s Drag Race fan favorite Monét X Change, and NYC drag superstars Linda Simpson, Sherry Vine, Marti Gould Cummings, and more.

The proceeds raised at the DRAGS event will directly benefit AFC’s meal program, which serves more than 70,000 meals each year.

“The Ali Forney Center is humbled by the continued love and care Gregory and the drag artists involved with this very special project have shown us,” said Carl Siciliano, AFC’s Executive Director. “The young people we see at our shelters and drop-in center have experienced hate and rejection from the people who are supposed to love them unconditionally, it means so much to us that so many are lending their time, resources, and talent to do something to show them they are valued and loved.”

DRAGS debuted in 2017 as a book launch of DRAGS, Photographed by Gregory Kramer, and was hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race season nine winner, Sasha Velour. The 2017 event raised nearly $40,000 for the Ali Forney Center’s young people and proved so popular it will join the yearly canon of AFC fundraisers, including July’s Oasis and October’s A Place at the Table.

The cast of performers currently includes Monét X Change, Linda Simpson, Sherry Vine, Marti Gould Cummings, Ragamuffin, Daphne Always, Mrs. Smith, Emi Grate, Scarlet Envy, Vigor Mortis, Wang Newton, Miz Jade, Brita Filter, Princess Bytch, Flotilla DeBarge, Ruby Roo, and Tina Burner.

DRAGS tickets range from $75 for General Admission to $10,000 for named event sponsorship. Chopin Vodka will be the evening’s beverage sponsor and provide an open vodka bar for all guests.
