Based on the book by Jeff Whitty, adapted by James Magruder, and co-produced by Gwyneth Paltrow, this seemingly eccentric yet fascinating mix of 80’s music and 1680’s setting (inspired by Sir Philip Sidney’s 16th-century romance Arcadia) has made waves on the Hudson Theatre stage with its theme of 21st century tolerance. It also features design by Tony Award nominee Julian Crouch, and costume design by Academy and Tony award nominee Arianne Phillips.
The Story of Head Over Heels
Starring Andrew Durand and Tom Alan Robbins, Head Over Heels is a rather unusual love story, not in its concept but in the way it is narrated – interwoven with numbers such as “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” by the 1980’s all-female band The Go-Go’s. The story revolves around the King’s two daughters, one of whom is very pretty, kind, and mobbed by suitors, while the other is rather nasty and misbehaved. Throw in an enigmatic prophecy, a Duke, and a flamboyant oracle, and you get the inimitable Head Over Heels!
