What happens when you want to tell the truth, but it may end up hurting you? What do you choose when you’re faced with pressure? What are your choices when under intense scrutiny?
Explore these choices and others in Lobby Hero, a revival of the 2001 Off-Broadway play. Written by Kenneth Lonergan of Manchester By The Sea fame, and helmed by 2015 Obie Award for Best Direction winner Trip Cullman, the play features Michael Cera, and marks the Broadway debut of Chris Evans.
The Story
Lobby Hero takes the audience to the lobby of a Manhattan building, where something devious is happening at the dead of the night. When two night guards clash with two cops, the result is a drama which brings their life choices into the picture. Two night guards face their choices, their wishes, and emotions when a murder is investigated in a lobby. Two cops - a rookie and his cynical experienced boss clash as their ideals, ethics, and decisions come in between. Will the murder finally be solved? The play is a circumspection of life, choices and personalities.
Performance
Lobby Hero premiered off Broadway in 2001 and ran from March to April 2001 and from September to October 2001. The play enjoyed a West End run in April and May 2002, and from June to August 2002.
The play was revived for Broadway for a March 2018 premiere.
